About

The Active Warrior 5k is the original event in the Active Warrior series. With its signature 100-meter water slide, over 40 manmade and naturally occurring obstacles, it takes in the best of the varied landscape the Southampton Outdoor Sports Centre has to offer to create the perfect obstacle based challenge.

As part of our 2019 improvements, which introduces new obstacles, a new medal, free adult participant t-shirts, we have redesigned the course to bring together the best of the adult course and the young recruit’s course to create one challenge fit for all.

Active Warrior is powered by Active Nation, a charity on a mission to persuade the Nation to be Active. Enjoyment is the single biggest factor in motivating children to be active, new analysis from Sport England Reveals.We know our course is enjoyable, so we’ve made a commitment to inspire a generation of children to be active. For every adult ticket purchased, we will award one free child place, either as part of a family ticket or, if it’s an adult only ticket, we will donate the free place to a local school.

Location

Our event takes place in the Southampton Sports Centre, Thornhill Road, Bassett, Southampton, SO167AY. Limited parking is available at the centre and we respectfully request you don’t park over our neighbour’s driveways.

Race Categories

Whatever your motivation is, Active Warrior is the perfect way to challenge yourself.

If you want to compete, to test yourself at pace, then enter the Forlorn hope (first 100) which takes place 09:30, is the wave for you.   If you’re looking for distance then this is also the ticket for you as the Forlorn hope is a limitless ticket allowing you to complete as many laps as you like.

If you are simply looking for a challenge, to test yourself against the obstacles then pick one of our adult only waves at 10:00 and 10:30 or our family waves at 11:00, 11:30 and 12:00.

You don’t have to be the fittest, you don’t have to be the quickest, you just need to have a can do attitude.

    If you want to be among the first 100 warriors, the bravest of the brave, to take on this course for the very first time then this is the option for you. Why, you might ask?

    The 09:30 wave is our only competitive element, its race for those who like to compete. If you want to be among the first warriors to take on this course, then this is the option for you. This ticket includes limitless entry to course meaning you can complete as many laps as you like after the first race wave.

    Adult only ticket Free child place donated to local schools

    Take on the ultimate test of courage and determination and earn your warrior stripes. Why, you might ask?

    • Challenging course with over 40 obstacles
    • Great location and great atmosphere
    • You get a medal
    • Two adult only waves

    The 10:00 and 10:30 waves are for adults only, meaning you can take on the challenge before we unleash young recruits on the course. This ticket works on the family waves if you don’t have children and want to donate your free child ticket to a local school.

    Family ticket Adult with a free child ticket

     

    • Family ticket (11:00, 11:30 & 12:30) – The price includes your course entry wrist band, a participant t-shirt (adults only), a finishers medal and free event photos. Children under 8 must be accompanied around the course by an adult and all children under the age of 16 require parental consent.
    • Additional child ticket – if you need an additonal child place, on top of your free ticket, they can be purchased at 50% of a full priced adult ticket.

    Family tickets include entry wrist bands, a finishers medal and free event photos. Please note: as Young Recruits get to go free, there is a small charge for their t-shirt.
